RU trainer?
« on: July 02, 2003, 10:07:25 pm »

Is there a trainer for UQM? Id like to get some RU and have a little fun here. My play time is limited, dont want to spend hours running around from planet to planet looking for minerals or shooting up the same ships over and over and over trying to get myself some RU...

Thanks in advance..

Heh.  Around these parts, we don't call them "trainers", as that would denote that you're using them to somehow improve your skills.

Nope, we call them "cheats", and we call those who would use them "filthy cheaters".  Tongue

But if you absolutely, positively need your RU itch scratched, there is a savegame editor available for UQM at The Pages of Now & Forever.  It's not nearly as fun as some of the other, non-cheating RU collection methods discussed on this forum previously, but it is faster..

A 'trainer' isn't a pokemon referance.  Pretty much any program that alters how the game plays (like a game genie) is commonly called a trainer in the whole warez community.

There's an idea. Starcontrol Pokemon. Just imagine:

"I choose you Pikachu!"

"Oh yeah? Well, I choose you Kohr Ah!"

Now that'd be a Pokemon show almost worth watching. Especially once the Kohr-Ah turns on its trainer.

OK. I just happened to glance at some pokemon cards out of morbid curiosity one time, and saw a lot of 'trainer' cards.

I have downloaded the trainer, but it doesn't work for me. The 0.2 versions doesn't seem to put its saved games in starcon2.00, starcon2.01 etc like it says so in the Readme file of the saved games editor. Sad

Or am I wrong?

You need to find the directory for the save game files.  Its usually hidden on windows systems.

From the manual:

....in your personal directory for uqm data the
first time you start the game.
The location of this directory varies per system.
On Microsoft Windows systems this is a folder named 'uqm' in the
application data folder for the current user.
This is usually in one of the following locations:
- "C:\Windows\Application Data\"
(Windows 95, 98, SE without separate users)
- "C:\Windows\Profiles\YourName\Application Data\"
 (Windows 95/98/SE with separate users)
- "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\"
 (Windows NT/XP)
On Unix systems this personal uqm data is stored in "~/.uqm".
