The Arclite Siege Tank from starcraft gets 1st. The Dropship from Aliens gets 2nd place. The Nova mech of Mechwarrior 2 gets 3rd.

Once again, does K.I.T.T count? He was a fairly cool vechicle... I liked the armed hippy hoovercraft in Ian M Banks "Against a Dark Background". A bunch of armed individualist hippies, each one certain that the other inhabitants of the craft are figments of their imagination/their creations...

Well, I've never heard of any of the stuff you just mentioned, so I'll just say that anything that's a vehicle (you can ride on/inside of it) counts.

Armed hippies? Isn't that a bit of a paradox?

If you haven't heard of K.I.T.T, I highly recommend you do a search for the old classic Knight Rider on the net. While not a good show by any standards, it's quite entertaining to watch.

the harmed hippies weren't peace loving hippies. Hippies might even be the wrong word. Since they all believed that everyone else was but a manifestation of their psyche, they wetre simply playing mindgames when firing at anyone... So in essence, I suppose they were peaceful

So why use real weapons on fake people? I guess maybe that would not be very exciting. "Bang, bang, your dead."

It's very terapeutic. Say one of the others inside your vessel, or someone outside is tryign to hurt you. Clearly, this implies that you've created this character to deal with some trauma, negative feeling, or other problem. Thus, manifests that represent "bad" parts of your personality can be eliminated, and you learn an important lesson.

Well, then I guess it's an all around good thing, except for the people who are getting shot.

"Do batmobiles count?"

Yes, but you have to choose one in particular.

The Vindicator, of course!

In a different direction, the 'paragliding elephants on elevator shoes'  personal planetary descent device in Footfall was pretty nifty.

The powerloader is always a favourite. Apparently Syd Mead didn't do that many of the tech designs in 'Aliens'. Cameron himself did most of them. He's pretty good at drawing.

Yea, I would have picked the forklift too, if I hadn't already grabbed ED-209 for best robot. Cameron is amazing, when he makes a movie, he seems to take on most of the jobs, personally.

seriously, I have always thought of the Vindicator as the coolest starship. About 10 years ago I used to draw (or TRY drawing) Vindicator in various positions, and mostly did a poor job at it.

The DeLorean from Back To The Future! I liked the one that could fly.
