Stuck in ur-quan kor-ah conflict! help!
« on: June 08, 2005, 01:40:23 am »

Can anyone help me out here? I'm stuck in ur-quan space with 5 little combat bubbles beneath me and an endless amount on the way. I can kill as many kohr-ah or ur-quan as I want, but I've been killing them for hours and every time I get back to hyperspace I just get sucked into another combat! How do I get out of this?! I saved over my game when I entered into combat and my last save was from like 10 hours ago!

If I could somehow just move my ship 5 degrees to the right when I exited combat I'd be fine!

Thanks for your help.

Just kill them, eventually you will get out of there.

Try using the warp device when you can. If you don't know what I am talking about, forget about it Smiley

The same thing happened to me, too. It really sucks. I only have 1 Earthling and 1 Spathi ship with me, so I can't last very long in combat, and I run out of fuel long before I can escape from all of them. Looks like I have no choice but to start over...

I suggest you dont go into Ur-quan space before your precursor ship is quick enough to escape from them.

The first thing you should do, is to build up your precursor ship to max speed & turning rate.

Doesn't matter how fast your ship is, you never get the opportunity to move once there are four or five bubbles underneath you. I got stuck in this situation because I was trying to visit the zot-fot-pik in their solar system and when I exited I was immediately sucked into battle.

I eventually had to hex edit the saved game file to manually move my ship over 20 spaces so I could get the hell out of there... really annoying.

You wouldn't happen to remember what values you changed? Or where I could find this information?

I would really like to know how to edit it as well, as I'm stuck in the same situation.
I have a hex editor, so all I really need is what values to change into what or what the numbers indicate, so I can do it myself.
A location in the Sol system, for instance.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the first 8 bytes in the save game: 4 bytes for the x coordinate, and 4 bytes for the y coordinate, in native byte order.

Be sure to make a backup before editing.
