I predict a reply along the lines of "Yeah why don't you? Tell us when you're done!"

I think the galaxy map is big enough for a player to get lost already. I'd like to see more creatures, treasures and diversity for the existing planet systems instread. When/if they implement the XML it might be easier to add custom content like that, like a 'creature pack'.

How about
why not to create new galaxy map (much bigger)?
Or better yet, have your ship move half as fast in hyperspace.  It essentially makes the galaxy seem four times as big that way.

You can, simply remove half your thrusters. Wink

With new map game will get new live.  With bigger map -- new quest and adventure.
Don't forget -- space has no limit....

Do you know anything about Space Map editor? Is such tool exist?

If anything I would have liked to see the ship move _faster_ rather
than slower. The map, for a new player, is a huge, daunting
hunk-o-space. While it might be nice to add new systems, maybe
it would be better done as an expansion pack. Or, maybe
another demension, like quasi-space.

currently, there is no space map editor.  If you want to create new life in the game, you do have complete access to the source code.  You can change anything you want.  Have fun...

I stumbled on a couple of threads about this.

It looks like it is possible to rewrite the code and to load the star stuff from a file.
