The emergency warp escape Module
« on: February 21, 2003, 07:27:23 am »

(semi Spoiler)

In the game the thing is remove because it they need the space for the bomb. if its so big, how does a shofixi scout have one then? Wink

Well, if you think about it... a shofixti scout is what, supposed to be less than 1/100th the size of the precursor ship.  It follows that a warp module for a shofixti wouldn't have to be nearly as large as for a precursor ship.  At least, that's the logic I'm using... I don't have a very solid understanding of warp module technology.

Yeah, the Arolu state as well that you need a powerful warp pod from a Dreadnought in order for them to twist it into a portal spawner. If they were all the same, you could just have taken one off a Traddash ship or some such...

come to think about it they would most likely remove the spawner because it has to be bigger. :-/

Ok, I didn't understand anything from this thread!

Bioslayer talks about the emergency warp escape module, JC talks about the ordinary to-hyperspace warp module, and Lukipela speaks of a portal spawner!

geez!

well, I don't understand the end either,, but the beginning seems pretty straightforward to me.. Let me lay it out to you:

1. Bioslayer asks why you have to remove the emergency warp pod on your flagship in order to make room for the bomb, seeing as it seems possible to fit one on a shofixti scout, which is a LOT smaller than the flagship.

2. The second argument is valid only if we assume that the regualr warp pod also functions as an emergency warp pod (not sure if it does, I seem to remember that the emergency warp pod was precursor tech, but all your regular ships are able to do the emergency warp as well, so perhaps it is.
Anyway, the argument is that the shofixti scout would need a much smaller warp pod because of it's smalelr size, and thats why the flagship warp pod would be bigger and need to be removed.

3. I back this argument up by pointing out that the Ur-Quan ship has much larger warp pods than the Arilou, thus indicating that warp pods DO indeed come in different sizes and that size is directly dependent on the size of the ship that uses it.

4. Ummm didn't quite get that one.

I hope that cleared it up a bit for you, at least partially

Piece of cake:

Since our emergency warp escape module uses a modified flux compensator when activated, it HAD to be removed since the flux energy flow could easily trigger the BIIIIG crystalline-enhanced matter-antimatter bomb installed on your ship.

The guys are just concerned you'll chicken out and not fulfill your mission. That's way they install that iddy-biddy small escape pod for you (and all of your 150 crew?)
