Uranus problem
« on: May 17, 2003, 12:26:25 am »

Hi there,

I'm unable to land on Uranus. This is sad as I understand that this is the first mission given by the earthling starbase. Can somebody tell me if it is a bug, or there is something to do in-game?

Isn't Uranus a gas giant?
You can't land on gas giants.
I think the mission was for Pluto...

Are you sure your first mission wasn't to land on the moon and find the source of the radio transmissions?
Uranus is a gas planet (ugh what a bad joke). They have no stable surfaces and you cannot land on them.

I have made the lunar and mercury mission, but now the starbase commander tell me:

"our deep space team has detected a faint signal coming from Uranus or somewhere from this general direction. The signal is definitively comming from the solar system."

So I went to Uranus, looked blankly at his gaseous surface, then back to the commander which seems stalled and keep repeating the same sentence. Any idea?

Also, while you are here (and I thank you all):
does the game really end in 2160? Must I hurry?
Does the game is finishable, or the release is incomplete as of now.

Just for info, I played the original one (and SC 1). I'm old you see Smiley

Well, what else is in the general direction of Uranus?

The game DOES end in '60 (certain events can push this date back a little), so don't waste too much time.

The game is finishable, though you won't get to see the ending movie sequence.

Actually the game ends in 2159, and certain events push it back to 2160.

You can beat it before the end of 2155 (the year the game starts in) but at the same time it's almost impossible if you don't know exactly what you're supposed to do.

Just play it through till 2159/60, and when the game ends, you can try again with the information you've learned.

You should be able to beat it on your second or third time through.

And the signal is coming from the general direction of Uranus, but not from Uranus itself. Does that help?

Thank you guy, I found Fwiffo on Pluto. How funny was he! I now remember why I really got hooked with the game, some years ago. 'Ultimate Evil' made me roll on the floor Smiley Smiley
