The Spathi Eluder was hands down the best ship.  I used it the whole game until i got my souped up Precursor vessel with Hellbore Cannons.

Once, i killed 12 Ur-Quan in a row with one Spathi Eluder!  However, against the Slylandro Probes it was only so-so.

Best ship outside the first person is either the Chenjusu, cuz they are so cool and they have DOGIs, or the Mmrymhmrr(sorry for the misspelling) because i could beat any Hierachy ship with them in SC1 and they can still beat almost every ship in SC2(it just takes a long, long time).

I never liked the spathi eluder much... its a ship that takes a fairly long time to kill something. Ships that go in and just melt others to slag are preferable.  Grin

Its still a good ship. Rips apart the Yehat Terminator after a while if you use the weapons right.

One more ship i forgot to mention was the Pkunk Fury... doing death blossoms were fun. And they came back to life :-)

I'd have to say that mine was the Melnorme Trader. Unfortunately, I've gotten out of practice with it... time to get back in. : )

The Trader was cool.  Especially how you could charge the cannon.

I've never liked the Eluder.  My little brothers did, due to the BUTT missles.

Syreen rule, just because it looks like a sex toy  Cool

I always liked the yehat terminator, the CHmmr avatar and the Chenjesu Broodhome.  I hate the utwig jugger because it is just too powerful.

My two favorite ships were Ariloulaleelay and Ur-Quan dreadnough.

Man it was fun circling around my friends with arilou and punishing them with the laser =)

Ur-Quan's "launch fighters!" is a legend.

despite my little picture ...

spathi.  all the way.  i probably could have taken out the entire game (and torched most of my friends in 1v1) with the spathi if it weren't for the station at the very end.

the chmrr was great for intimidating people.

arilou was pretty effective.  sit next to a planet and wait.

i'm surprised that nobody's mentioned the sheer power of the druuge mauler.  if you could keep good control of it, or just fire a few shots, go wild speed wise, and wait for the opponent to make a mistake, it made short work of even an avatar.

but i'm with the spathi.  all the way.

Actually, I always kinda liked the Shofixti... they were pretty ineffective versus the Ur-Quan, and the Utwig with a decent pilot, but for a 6-person ship, the Scout can do quite a bit of damage.  I'd wager I could do at least 6 points of damage to any other ship, without even using the glory device.  Smiley

The Pkunk were another favorite, if only because they were the only ship capable of a true strafing run.  And because they could take out Ur-Quan fighters like nothin.

The Chmmr were fun against small ships like the Shofixti or Umgah, cuz you could just whack em into the planet a few times, but against bigger prey I'd have to go with Thraddash, who could run circles around most people, or Pkunk, who can usually keep out of the way.

Can you tell I like role-playing thieves?  Guile and agility win against force in my book any day.  Although, it helped a lot that SC2 didn't have smooth turning .. once you got a feel for it, a fast ship could just keep itself in the dead angles where it couldn't be hit, and pop out long enough to take a few shots before cruising out of weapons range again.  The Arilou were great for this, too .. run in, take a shot and warp out.  Chilling by planets was fun against big, slow ships, like the VUX... more than once I've actually gotten people to come closer enough that they couldn't escape the gravity well.

Ah, memories.

Although everyone knows it can get pretty powerfull, I felt obligated to state my success with the Precursor vessel :

I once took the thing and, on a whim, destroyed every system-dwelling Orz ship within their sphere of influence.

Cool Yeah....I rock.  Cool

Glad to see you like the Eluder so much, but I fail to see whats so great about the Mauler.  Sure, you could kill stuff with it because it had great range and the recoil was handy, but the shell only did 6 damage and used a lot of fuel.  Anyone with any skill at all would lurk between firing arcs and you'd be bolloxed.  Or a Kohr-Ah or Chenjesu would smack you from a zillion miles away.

That reminds me, my biggest weakness as a Spathi was flying into Kohr-Ah mines that hit me because I was right at the edge of the screen and couldn't see them coming... smooth zoom should fix that though Wink

I loved the Arilou in SC1, lost favour a bit in SC2, although I found them one of the most intriguing races to deal with, and their music rocked.

After the post I have been thinking of my favorite ship, and it actually isn't Pkunk Fury or Slylandro Probe. I don't have a favorite ship. It would be easier to name the ships  I *don't* like, such as Supox, Shofixti, Ilwrath, Ur-Quan Kohr-Ah (yup) and Umgah.

If I really have to mention a ship, I'd probably say... Mmrnmhrm X-Form, it is capable of taking out many kind of ships.  Grin

I don't have one favourite. Depends on opponent and situation.

Eluder & x-wing are unbeatable for staying out of enemy range and slowly killing them. Very boring though.

Kzer-za owns with it's raw power.

Nemesis doesn't have any major weakness, and it's fast.

In singleplayer, thraddash is great for turning slylandro probes into resource units.

Even tho Mauler wasn't the best one available, it is still my favourite. It really makes your friends worship you, when you hit a long range shot straight into the Kohr-ah's black bitches torso five times a row.

Chmmmr Avatar is so boring  Roll Eyes

I started playing on Star Control 1  Genesis and then moved to Star Control 2 on the PC so a lot of my favs are from Star Control 1 Smiley

I always liked the Androsynth Guardian and Chenjesu Broodhome.

My absolute favorite was the Mmrnmhrm X-form (Transformer).  I still have the feeling to this day the REAL reason the Mmrnmhrm and Chenjesu were removed from the game was because the X-form was just too powerful. Wink    I could kill any Hierarchy ship, anytime.  With a little luck, I could beat a Dreadnought without taking a single crew lost.

Oh, the Terminator ROCKS also!  Favorite from SC2 was the Supox Blade... it was so fun and makes people mad Cheesy

Chenjesu Broodhome is hands down my favorite "big" ship. DOGIs will keep your enemy on the move and distract him while sniping long range. Those shards are quite indimitating at close range so unless the enemy is suicidal, he'd keep some distance.

Melnorne Trader was propably my 'best' ship. Again, long range and those shots fully charged kill most ships with one hit. The charge could be used as a shield.

Druuge Mauler is very much like the Trader, except cooler. And you could accelerate to ridiculous speeds with the cannon, which would keep you safe (unless you hit the planet..). Sacrificing crew for battery at the right moment for a fierce salvo makes most enemies crap their pants. Except shielded ships...
