I usually name the Precursor ship 'Liberator' in regards to your primary mission throughout the whole game. Plus, I imagined what alien races would think of a huge starship that pops into their system called the "Destructor" or "Alien-Eater" or something similar. Sometimes I have fun and name it the 'Hurricane' or even the 'Quan-Killer' but usually it's 'Liberator'. The captain's name is usually 'Rage' though. It works for a male character, but I've always played female characters named that.

I'm curious -- how do your captain handle Talana, then? Does she keep things as purely professional as possible, or does she, ah, explore alternative lifestyles?
(note, I'm keeping this in the realm of the CHARACTER)

Hrmm... 'keeping it strictly professional'? To be honest, I've tested it out once or twice, seeing if the Captain can keep things 'strictly professional', and noting that the only difference this makes is that you never get the Syreen Penetrators (which I never purchase anyways), it's not a big deal.

As for 'exploring alternative lifestyles', I am sure Talana wouldn't particularly mind, given her suggestive comment regarding 'making out alright with just us females'. I certainly wouldn't have any issues with a female captain pursuing that avenue of 'exploring alternative lifestyles', especially given that I am bi in real life.

Actually, just to clarify:
Ozzel was choked via screen when the imperial fleet exited hyperspace near Hoth. Needa was the unfortunate captain of the Avenger who "took full responsibility" for losing the Falcon. Piett was the captain of the Executor when it crashed into the DSII (all this is from Wookiepedia).

I always name my captain Ohma. I still can't think of a good name for my ship. I've been going for ships from sci-fi 'verses that have been influential to me, so far I've had the Whitestar, the Brittania (the 2 wouldn’t fit), the Macross, the Serenity, and Moya.

I tend to go with the canon choices as much as possible, so I almost always keep the names Zelnick and Vindicator, though occasionally I use my own name and call the ship the Kestrel (Ace Combat 5 reference), Dixon (doesn't refer to anything in particular), or whatever I feel like calling it.
