Animated Avatars

Hey all, just signed up here.  Been an avid SC2 fan since it's original release, and I really appreciate all the work that's gone into making this version that we can easily play on newer systems.

My question is this: is there anyone here who can (or already has?) take some of the character scenes from the game and make them into an animated .gif that we could use for an avatar on this and other sites?  In particular, I think the Melnorme captain would make a neat avatar, with his color changing background and oddly blinking eye.

I'd love to be able to do this myself, but I have zero technical ability.  It would seem doable to me, but I'd like to hear from the more experienced folks here.  Thanks for all the work in making this awesome game available to newer gamers  Smiley

You'll want to look inside the content to find the images. It should be inside content.uqm, which is actually a ZIP file with a different file extension. Just give it the .ZIP extension and extract it like a ZIP file, and you'll have all the content (images, sounds, music) available to you. I think the comm screens are in a folder called "comms" or something.

Lukipela,

I love those! They need to be on your resources page!

I've used those a lot to help me with the art before Megagun's awesome uqm-animation tool

(which is available here:)

Luki, can the dialogue editor be used to create new trees and conversation options?  Or do the trees have to be coded into the engine some other way, and the dialogue editor allows you to flesh out OPTION 1, OPTION 2, etc?
